The truth hurts, but I like to regard it as growing pains.

I’m glad to see that the internet is slowly destroying patriotism. Flags are used to wrap the minds of people, and to wrap the bodies when they finally come home.

“I love how he expresses his thoughts over the internet. He is so articulate and easy to listen to. I could listen to him all day because I’m usually in agreement with what he says. He should be more recognized.”

Externalising my inner-scare

I don’t write much anymore, but I do miss it. I suppose it’s because whenever I have a point to convey, I’d much rather turn on a camera and speak from the heart as oppose to constructing a coherent flow of words onto a screen. However on this occasion, I feel more comfortable typing.

Just over a week ago now, I lost a very close relative of mine, which I talk about on my video Life’s too short. He died because of a brain tumour. I don’t need to explain why this is so horrible (because it’s obvious) but I will draw attention to the fact he was still young (52), and upon the discovery of such a condition, it was clear there would be only one outcome.

Two days ago I received news that a good friend of mine (Charles Trippy) who I’ve known for about 5 years, had a seizure while on tour with his band. He was rushed to hospital for a scan, where a small brain tumour was discovered. He is only 27! Luckily the doctors are able to operate so he is getting surgery soon.

Last night I went out for a meal with my friend (and band’s guitarist). Whilst catching up he explained how someone he goes to university with, discovered he had an inoperable brain tumour. In his early 20s, he has been given very little time to live.

These stories are huge reminders of how short life is. Charles has been lucky, in that his symptoms became clear at a time when medicine could intervene and fix the situation. As for the other two stories, this was unfortunately not so.

I asked my friend over our meal ‘What is the process with getting a brain scan? If I were to get one, and it was all clear, would the radiation do signifcant damage?’

He explained it’s more of an issue that if you go for such a check, and are found to be clear, your medical records will point towards a case of ‘hypochondria’.

In an ideal world, everyone should surely be allowed to get regular checks to catch these cancers before it’s too late - but I suppose in our current system it would be deemed as inefficient and wasteful of limited resources.

I’m not sure what the point of this blog has been - but I’ve felt very numb the past 24hours thinking about this - so externalising my inner-scare seemed the most constructive thing to do.

“Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate people from love. It can’t take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.”

This is what happens when a British guy tears apart the lyrics to Nicki Minaj’s new song STUPID HOE!
